Vegetables To Grow

Make Your Vegetable Garden Grow – Tips For Gardening Success
There are many ways you can plant your vegetable garden and some are better than others. Of course your location and the vegetables you would like to grow may dictate what you have to do. One of the many ways to plant is to use the buddy system. This is basically matching up the vegetables in such a way that they benefit each other.
For keeping the insects out you can mix plants that insects do not like with those that are an insect magnet. Plant Onions among your other vegetables, they have a way of repelling insects by either the odor they emit or their ability to mask the odors of the other plants. Whichever one it is, it seems to be a benefit.
Chives and Garlic also have a way of repelling some types of insects. Garlic can be difficult to grow in some climates but chives are easy to do. Spacing them throughout the garden will help. You also have the option of attracting insects that prey on the ones you do not want. The following are good to plant around your vegetable garden area – Marigolds, Black Eyed Susan’s, Angelica, Sweet Alyssum and Asters.
To extend the growing season for cool weather crops, plant taller vegetables among them. The shade provided by the taller plants will help keep them cooler so you can enjoy them longer. Planting vegetables with roots that grow to different depths is another strategy. This way they will not rob each other of moisture because they will be feeding at different levels.
Do not plant similar plants together because they will attract the same insects and diseases. This is the last thing you want so make sure neighboring plants are not of the same family. For example Tomato and Corn should not be planted close to each other because they both attract the Corn Earworm or Tomato Fruit Worm.
To make all of this work, make sure you have a good healthy soil. A poor soil will not yield much of a harvest and will need more work from you to maintain growth.
Give these techniques a try and see how they work for you. It may take some research on your behalf to learn more about the vegetables you wish to plant. Knowing which insects are attracted to them and how they react to other vegetables will not only keep your plants healthy, you will have become that much more knowledgeable.
